Removing false GoWork reviews requires more than a statement that the company dislikes criticism. Polish law protects freedom of expression, including negative opinions, but it does not give unrestricted protection to false factual allegations, insults, disclosure of confidential data or unlawful personal attacks.
The response should match the content and the client’s objective. A precise notice or pre-action demand may resolve the problem. Other cases require preservation of evidence, identification of the author where legally possible, interim relief or civil proceedings.
When removing false GoWork reviews may be justified
A company may have protectable reputation and other personal rights under Polish civil law. The first task is to distinguish verifiable factual statements from value judgments. A harsh opinion is assessed differently from an allegation of a specific unlawful act.
Context matters. The review, replies, thread title, profile name and repetition across platforms should be preserved. Removing one sentence may not solve the problem if the same allegation appears elsewhere.
- false factual allegations about the company or its managers;
- insults or statements unrelated to a public-interest discussion;
- disclosure of personal, medical, commercial or confidential data;
- impersonation, coordinated attacks or repeated publication;
- content that infringes a trade mark or misleadingly uses the company name.
Evidence before contacting the platform
Take screenshots showing the full page, URL, date, profile and surrounding comments. Preserve internal evidence showing why a factual allegation is false. Do not publish confidential employee or customer data in the response.
The evidence package should be proportionate. A platform notice must identify the content and legal reason clearly enough to be assessed. General accusations of defamation often produce a weaker result than a structured explanation tied to specific sentences.
Platform notice, formal demand and court proceedings
The first route may be the platform’s reporting mechanism or a legally reasoned notice. A formal demand can request removal, prevention of repeated publication, preservation of data or another appropriate action. The addressee and legal basis should be selected carefully.
If voluntary action is not sufficient, the company may consider interim relief and a claim for protection of personal rights. The requested remedy must be proportionate and capable of enforcement. Identification of an anonymous author is a separate evidential and procedural issue.
Integrated protection of reputation and trade marks
Reputation cases may also involve a company name, trade mark, domain, copyrighted material or unfair competition. Registration of a trade mark can strengthen protection in an appropriate case, but it does not automatically create a right to a licence fee for every use of the name.
Our reputation practice works with the technology and platform practice to select the appropriate route.
Frequently asked questions
Can every negative review be removed?
No. Lawful criticism and value judgments may be protected. The specific wording, facts and context must be analysed.
Can the anonymous author always be identified?
No. Identification depends on available data, legal grounds, platform cooperation and procedural tools.
Should the company answer publicly?
Sometimes, but a public reply can amplify the allegation or disclose information. The communication strategy should be coordinated with the legal one.
